The Ash Tree

 Well it's March 1..only twenty one days till the first day of Spring! The days are starting to get noticeably longer!! Yah!! No more darkness by 6 o'clock. I'm anxiously awaiting warmer Spring days..especially in light of tomorrow's impending snow storm. The news is calling for 5 inches of snow and about a inch of ice. Winter throws its last punch..hopefully! I remember one March I was already getting a suntan while working in the yard..Ohh how things can change..every year is different.. you just never know.Right now were in the Middle of the Celtic Ash Tree Month. The Ash Moon is the third moon of the Celtic year, and aligns with the onset of Spring. The Ash Tree is honored as the World Tree, Yggdrasil, and is considered to the The Tree of Life. At this time of the year, the water energy rises up from the depths of the Earth and begins flowing into the plants, just as the sap begins to rise in the trees and the buds begin to form.
The Ash is often called the tree of enchantment and magic. What a perfect tree to represent this time of year. February 18^th thru March 17^th is the time of the Ash. It is a time of rebirth and renewal. It is the time before spring when the crocus and daffodils are starting to peek out of the earth.The Ash is often referred to by the phrase, "by oak, ash, and thorn". The Druids believed that the great oak represented the male energy, the Hawthorn (or thorn), the feminine energy, and the ash balanced the two. When one found the three trees growing closely together, this area was a special place. It was thought that the faery could be seen as well if one communicated with them in such locations.
The Ash Moon is a time to find your life's purpose as well as seeking and finding harmony within ourselves. This task is harder than it sounds!! This year I've decided to look at the tree calendar as a way to organize the year in such a way so I know "What I should be thinking about or working on at certain times of the year"This keeps me focused, and I need that!!
