Art..continued

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.”

I love Decoupage..its just cool the way you can transform a ordinary cardboard box into something spectacular, with as few supplies as a pair of scissors, some old catalogs, and a little modge podge. I've done decoupage with scrapbook paper before, but never thought about seed catalogs with all the lovely photographs...A Perfect Medium...and... There Free!!Below are some photos of some ideas about things you can decoupage. A little tin box, cardboard boxes from the craft store, old cigar boxes work well too...I'm thinking of making one to keep seed packets in, or possibly even old seed packets I've already used. The seed packet has alot of great information on it..and admittedly I am a little bit of a pack rat!!
How to: Cut out images from the seed packets and catalogs. You can add your own special touch with flower stickers, or cut out fairy's from books..

To decoupage the box and lid, coat an area of the board with acrylic medium or glue, stick on the paper cutout, and brush over it to hold it in place and seal it. Decorate around the upper edges of the box and down at least 1" inside the box.

The box lid edges can be trimmed with  ribbon. You can decoupage the top only, or the entire lid, both inside and out.

When your design is complete, paint a final coat of acrylic medium or Modge Podge onto the box and lid. If you have been using white glue for the decoupage, use acrylic gloss medium for the final coat (glue may leave a cloudy film).
