Bruises refer to a discoloration of the skin that is the outcome of any kind of physical injury like cuts, wounds, or accidents. This results in the rupture of adjacent blood vessels, which break and release their contents to the surrounding skin tissue. It is demarcated by swelling, softness, redness, and pain in the region that has experienced the bruise. Home remedies are available that result in complete healing of the bruise in a few days to several months, depending on the severity of the injury.
Home remedies for bruises are among best ways to tackle this widespread skin problem. According to MedlinePlus, a bruise represents a part of the skin that has become discolored due to an injury, cut, wound, fall, accident, or sport-related incident. The extent and duration of a bruise depends on the injury and may take months if the bones are also bruised.
The symptoms after an individual gets a bruise are as follows:

  • Swelling or bump
  • Pain
  • Redness with a bluish tinge
  • Tender and supple to the touch
  • Pain in muscles while using the affected body part
Ice or Cold Water: Cold water can be poured on the bruised region. This results in constriction of the blood vessels at the wound site and has been found to be effective in eliminating bruises from forming in the area.
Lemon: Cut a piece of lemon and keep it over the bruise. This is one of the easiest and earliest home remedies that can be administered to an individual. Lemon is a good source of vitamin C, which is required at the time of wound healing for thickening of the blood vessels and treating internal hemorrhaging.
Turmeric: Turmeric is the best known healer of wounds and injuries. Mix turmeric powder in a cup of warm milk and drink the mixture every morning. It is good to drink it on an empty stomach and it can help heal the affected area within a few days.

Olive Oil and Mullein Flowers: Steep some mullein flowers in olive oil and apply it to the affected area. This will result in early or rapid recovery of wounds.
Black Coffee: Grind a small amount of black coffee and apply it over the cut. Cover the area with a bandage. This will heal the wound in few days.   Pepper, Vaseline, and Cayenne: A mixture of cayenne and pepper in a large volume of melted Vaseline has been shown to have healing effects on bruises if applied directly.
Arnica, Chamomile, and Yarrow: These three substance can be mixed together to form an herbal infusion. This works well against bruises because of the mixture’s anti-inflammatory properties.
Lavender Oil: On the bruised portion, lavender oil can also be applied. This gives relief from pain.
Comfrey Leaves: Comfrey leaves can be ground to form a paste that can be applied at the bruised region of cuts or wounds.
Parsley: Parsley leaves can also be spread over the wound, then covered by a bandage.
